Wheels for Derrick

Many times in the past we have had requests from our African Partners for financial assistance with expenses that are not directly related to the Beacon of Hope mission.  When this happens I normally send out a request to our supporter email list to see if any of you are inclined to want to help to relieve their financial burden. In the past we have raised funds for Zodwa’s cataract surgery, for travel and funeral expenses when Thulani’s sister passed away, for school registration fees for Derrick’s son, and several others.

Derrick is a long time Campus Crusade (CRU) missionary and has also been working with us since 2007.  He is one of our seventeen team leaders and coordinator or area director for the six teams in Richards Bay.  Here is Derrick’s appeal in the Beacon of Hope supporters in his own words:

2014 Trip Wrap Up

On the last day of our 2013 trip I made contact with Prisca Kabole, who runs an organization called PLAEP (Pro-Life Advancement & Education Project) in Kitwe Zambia.  After taking on the phone for a while it was clear to me that she absolutely wanted to have access to a program like Smart Choices that could be used to mold the lives of young adults.  We agreed immediately that we would include a week in the 2014 trip to go back to Zambia and train some of her volunteer workers.
