Wheels for Derrick

Many times in the past we have had requests from our African Partners for financial assistance with expenses that are not directly related to the Beacon of Hope mission.  When this happens I normally send out a request to our supporter email list to see if any of you are inclined to want to help to relieve their financial burden. In the past we have raised funds for Zodwa’s cataract surgery, for travel and funeral expenses when Thulani’s sister passed away, for school registration fees for Derrick’s son, and several others.

Derrick is a long time Campus Crusade (CRU) missionary and has also been working with us since 2007.  He is one of our seventeen team leaders and coordinator or area director for the six teams in Richards Bay.  Here is Derrick’s appeal in the Beacon of Hope supporters in his own words:

"The Lord is doing great things here in our place. We are seeing great changings of the lives of people. Our work in the schools is getting better day by day we see a lot of commitment to people especially the Teams.

I write this message to let you, friends know that we have been attacked by the THUGS in our home in Ngwelezane. They came in and stripped our car, and they took ALL FOUR WHEELS WITH the RIMS. They left the car sitting on the bricks. The matter is with the police. Cliff is helping us order the part. The quotation for the LOST items is R8500.00.

I hereby ask for help from you friends to help me meet this urgent need. I have something in my account and I am short of $550. This car is helping us to do ministry in the schools. Please friends help us, I have set my targets for this term, I don't want to loose this friendship that is built with the principals of the schools."

If you can help Derrick at this time, please donate online. If you prefer to do it by check make your check payable to Beacon of Hope, write "Wheels" in the memo field and mail it to 24851 Costeau St, Laguna Hills, CA 92653.
