Giving Tuesday 2017 Trip

Giving Tuesday has finally arrived. This starts off a month of year end fundraising to fund our mission for 2017.   As we look ahead to 2017, high on our priority list is our Mission Trip starting on January 13. For the first time ever, we are bringing each team leader with their spouse or a second team member to Johannesburg to a 4-day seminar. This is a total of about 32 participants.

Smart  Choices
Week 1 Day 1 & 2

During the first two days of the conference we dedicate our time to speaking about:

  • The Smart Choices AIDS training curriculum which the teams use.
  • Establishing a discipleship program to use with the students as a follow up to the Smart Choices program, to encourage the students to remain true to the commitments that they make  during the Smart Choices program and a discussion with the teams.
  •   on grant writing  with a focus on starting with applying for grants from Beacon of Hope and also through the US government PEPFAR fund.

Renewal Retreat
Week 1 Day 3 & 4

During the third and fourth days of the conference we focus on spiritual renewal:

  • Mission focus.
  • Prevention against mission burnout.
  • Setting aside a time for Sabbath rest and focus on God.

Second week
Victoria Falls, Zimabawe
Kitwe, Zambia

For the second week we are sending mini teams out to two of the four countries of operation (Zambia and Zimbabwe). They will work with the local teams on projects of their choosing.
  • Our Partner/team leader at Victoria Falls is Cyprian. The Victoria Falls team will focus on Smart Choices during the day and Cyprian has some bible studies planed for the evenings.
  • Our partner in Zambia is PLAEP and the team leaders are Prisca and Munyimwa. Our Zambia team will be working with them doing one school Career day, and participating in some of the other community development programs that PLAEP is involved in.

Our hope is that on future mission trips we will have sufficient participants to send teams out to all four countries for the second week.

Our hope is that on future mission trips we will have sufficient participants to send teams out to all four countries for the second week.

This year’s Mission trip is in January rather than July which saves about $800 per participant on airfare from the USA to Africa. We did this because of the extra expense that we have to cover to bring all of the team members to Johannesburg for a week. Our team travel expense ranges from $50 - $400 per person depending on the mode of transport.  For this year’s trip the accommodation cost is $160 per person for the 4 day stay at eMseni conference center.

As you can see, this year’s mission trip is packed full of exciting possibilities for our organization and we would like you to be part of our team. With your financial support, our organization can make this trip a reality and you will see the good come from your donation immediately.  See the progress on our Trip fund at beaconint.org.
