History:

Pastor Derrick was originally a Campus Crusade missionary. Our first contact with him through the Smart Choices program, was when he was a teacher at a school where we were teaching the program.  He became one of our team leaders the following year, 2007 and has been very active with Smart Choices and as a member of the community in eSikhaleni. Pastor Derrick founded his church, the Christian Center for Jesus Church in eSikhaleni and in recent years has been active in planting new churches. He is married to Constance and has three adult children and one daughter in high school. Pastor Derrick has a passion for the young students and really knows how to get them excited and to participate in the program.  In recent years he has been active in evangelizing his home village of Nongoma in the northern part of Kwa-ZUlo Natal province. 

Prayer:

The entire KZN team would greatly appreciate your prayers for unity and a sense of fellowship and camaraderie as they strive to work together to serve the youth in the KZN area. Also wisdom as he is serving as the Chairman of the BOHI-KZN board.  Pray for the work he is doing in Nongoma to reach out to the men all the way up to the tribal chiefs to encourage them to become spiritual leaders and mentors to the younger men.  He is the first person in Africa to use the discipleship material material produced by Terry Miller from Calling All Disciples.
