Summer 15 Africa Trip

This Summer's trip is only a few days away. Our team of four is departing on September 10 and returning October 4. We will be in three African countries and have a number of objectives. Here is more information, a simple itinerary, and ways you can be praying for us. Please follow this blog to stay up to date on all our trip happenings. Objectives

  • Training new team members and encouraging and reinforcing new teams we started last year
  • Provide grant application and project reporting procedures for 2016 projects
  • Lay some groundwork for the Watanabe 6-month long mission trip in 2016:
    • Assessment of how a discipleship program would work in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe given what is already happening with Vu, Abraham, Jeff Scorziell, etc.
    • Ask all teams in every country the same questions we will pose in Bulawayo about Discipleship program

Itinerary

Depart LAX         Thursday  Sept 10

Zambia Sept 12-18  

  • Project with PLAEP Partner   (Prolife Advancement and Education Partnership)        

Zimbabwe Sept 19-26 

  • Project with Scripture Union and True Love Waits  

Johannesburg and Pretoria, South Africa - Sept 26-29

  • Church and Team Debrief Ebenezer Church Soshanguve and SCSAP-Sosh Team         
  • SCSAP Partner Visit JNB Schools and Meet with BICC (Brethren In Christ Church)
    • BICC is a potential new Smart Choices partner.
    • SCSAP (Smart Choices South Africa Partners)

Durban and Richards Bay, South Africa - Sept 30 - Oct 3

  • Meet with KZN team leaders 
  • Meet with KZN Board, Pastor Brent and Angus
  • Thursday Oct 1 pm meet with Accountants 
  • All day R&R Hluhlue & Umfolozi Game Reserve
    • KZN board is the board managing the newly established Local Beacon of Hope Non-profit
    • KZN is the province Kwa-Zulu Natal

Arrive LAX, USA     Sunday Oct 4

Prayer Requests

  • General safety and travel mercies
  • That our team in Zambia would be able to get access into the schools. (This is a new program and it can take some time to earn the trust of officials and municipalities)
  • That Vu (Bulawayo) and Cyprian (Victoria Falls) in Zimbabwe would be able to get into the schools
  • For unity and direction for the KZN Board and wisdom for future direction
  • For Pastor Moses Lyagoba, the Area Director in Uganda, who is in pain and undergoing throat surgery.
